A cooling air fan circulates (sucks or blows) air into the computer. Over time dust settles inside covering sensitive electronics. The dust can cause short circuit and form a thermal blanket resulting in over-heating and hardware damage.  In addition the heat inside the computer attracts bugs. To prolong your computer's life and to reduce intermittent hardware problems periodically clean the inside of your computer.
